Spring Time, All The Time Inspiration: Shades of Purple
March 10, 2009I’ve been smitten more than ever before by shades of purple, especially the deep ones, but even the light shades enliven the spirit with the thought that perhaps, just maybe, spring will be coming soon.
Here are sources of inspiration from Domino, as well as some great home accessories from Z Gallerie. The accessories featured here are all currently 20% off at Z Gallerie.
Paint Colors, by Behr – wall in library: deep-plum Delicious Berry #S-G-690; wall in living room: pink Zephyr #690A-1;door: lime green Pear #400A-3
The color is an eggshell paint in Shadow 2117-30, by Benjamin Moore.
Eucalyptus Branches make a modern statement on a smaller, renter-friendly scale:
Although not sold in pairs, the two Violeta Vases together look extra striking.
“This regal hue can easily overwhelm a room, but when it works, it’s both rich and livable. We tested 25 different shades to find the one—then grounded it with a creamy trim and understated accessories.”
Colors – wall above the paneling: Early Morning Mist #1528, benjaminmoore.com for stores; paneling: Embassy Purple #TH59 ralphlaurenhome.com for stores; molding: Soft Chamois #OC-13 benjaminmoore.com for stores
The plum-colored Fleur Tealight, above, pulls in an intensity that you can use dotted around a room, or intensely with painted walls in a similar, deep color. For a girlier, lighter and more spring-time like inspiration, the Orchid Flower Tealight, below, brings lightness to the room it inhabits.

“Few will suspect these grapy drapes edged in crisp white aren’t custom, especially when they’re paired with a damask-covered chair.”
Curtains – Nate Berkus “Grosgrain ribbon” linen-cotton panel, from $49.99 each, lnt.com for stores
Upholstery – Harmonics “Essence” damask in quartz, about $33.99/yard, waverly.com
Another lighter option is the orchid colored Faux Coral:
“Using centuries-old methods (and handmade wool, felt, and twine), nomadic Kyrgyzstani artisans create these heavy appliqué rugs in a huge range of dramatic colors and styles.”
55″ x 88 ½” ABout $2,555, contact feltrugs.co.uk for information

Wow – I love some of these colors! And I’m lucky – my future husband loves purple too – I see some plum shading in my future.
Great post-I would love to do a room in aubergine.
Can you tell us where to find those amazing grape curtains by Nate Berkus? I’ve searched the link provided but have had no luck. Many advance thanks!
I love the comforter in the picture( single flower on white) Where can I find that?
Do you know where to find the white bedspread with the 2 purple flowers? I love this!
Thank you!
